Nanowrimo

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Technically, this is a Nano thing, so it’s a writing prompt. Category right. Baha. And I’m not waiting til tomorrow! I wish this was in cam form so you could hear me actually rant and ramble. It’s so much more fun that way. But ah well, until the computer gets fixed.

Nanowrimo is coming and I have several projects to choose from to work on for the month and get done for once. And I never know which one to do, so I’m going to try and leave that up to everyone but me for the moment. As in anyone reading this. So here are the stories and a little blurb on them all.

Arcleo
Traditional fantasy story where I get to make a prophesy absolutely meaningless. The main character is a vapid selfish girl who wants to be princess and is convinced that she is the true princess of an overtaken land not because of the mark on her arm (The one that’s supposed to mark the princess but appeared on every baby girl in the neighboring lands) but because she thinks she deserves better than hard work in an inn for the rest of her life.

Raven Project
A class of first year university students get subjected to genetic experimentation and do pretty much nothing about it. They’re scared, don’t know what to do and have seen the footage of the last class who tried to fight and run away getting mowed down along with the rest of their families. And that last class looked a lot like they did. Told from the perspective of the least likely success of the story, a girl who, with the help of a serum and a few long moments of agony, can grow a forty foot long wingspan.

Background Noise
Once upon a time there was a sad little lonely girl. She got a voice in her head. That voice wouldn’t go away when she grew up and she was the only teenager with imaginary friends. She also had a book of words she had to memorize and never say, but that didn’t make sense so she never really did it. And then she got whisked away to a weird place where a big monster immediately attacked her and she realized the voice in her head was telling the truth (Or she had gone insane) and everything goes to shit. And then gets better. Yay!

Transmundane
Once upon a time a girl managed to remember the strangest dreams. Dreams where these people came in and took her out into the rest of the collective subconscious to try and keep people from going around and “fixing” other people’s subconscious. And then it started to happen while she was daydreaming too. But she could do more in them now that she was getting used to it. And then, one day she got into an accident and got stuck there. Or maybe she didn’t. I haven’t decided yet.

Genetically Impaired
Damien is a jackass and he doesn’t die. This is how he got to be immortal, from plowing a car into a shoddily made building in the middle of the forest to his escape, recapture, and how he opened up their doors to human experimentation. And supposed ethical treatment of them too. Ethical, of course, meaning they would live like kings and never be allowed outside if they managed to physically maim them in any way, which they usually did.

Sybil of Destiny
In the distant future a war no one remembers has destroyed most of the world. Those who are left liner in small refuge shelters, trying to maintain themselves, save other survivors and keep from getting raided. Upon the recovery of a strange young woman from the mountains who appears to not have come to any harm in the fallout, they ponder over what the hell is going on. And how she’s managing to do the things she does. Oh, and she’s a Sue, but this is a fun Sue story.

Darkling
Another Sue story. This one focuses around Rin, a lovely young girl who everyone wants dead because it’s time for the chosen one to be sacrificed. So her friends are looking for the chosen one so they can kill her properly, the bad guys are looking for her because if they kill her first they win and her mother is just pissed off with her one night and randomly beats her shitless.

Atlantis Project
A top secret, formerly government funded experiment has been invaded by small children. This is the story of the children who managed to break in, run through and sneak into the gate to what they called Atlantis, a strange land where the world has been destroyed. The people are aliens that are horribly racist/classist against their own kind and technologically advanced. Humans with poor immune systems that come through, however, discover that they develop strange powers that are supposed to be used to help the people as per contract. As kids unbound by contract, however, they make their own way,

So vote on the sidebar and HELP ME! Yay!

OMG! It’s a plot!

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Plot time! White Mice. I have characters, now I need plot.

So, it’s the start of a new year and the start of reopening some very old dormitories. The first night is a party, complete with meeting new people and a little drinking for good measure. Not that everyone managed to get to get to all of that. Eight of them went to sleep early.

Late that night after the party had wound down and everyone had gone to sleep, five of them met up in the attic, some aware of it and others more surprised that they ended up there. Not that they were left to mull in their confusion long as strange and horrific creatures came to attack them and they were forced to act, lashing out at them although, as they vanish, they realize that something is amiss.

This is when the final three appear from the middle of the room. Dawn, Di and Ezra are not so much apologetic, Di and Ezra actually laughing more than anything else, while Dawn gets right down to business. Now that they all know each other’s secrets, they can get down to the matter of the hunters, a large organized group with the intent of hunting them down and killing anyone with powers, that are coming after them in a matter of minutes.

They manage to successfully detain them and send them away, trapping several things inside an igloo in front of the building. Dawn tagged it with something before going to sleep herself. Thus, the White Mice, a prank group was born. No one else realized it until the morning, when they found that everyone had been admiring the handiwork of the igloo. They all rather liked the idea of pulling a few more pranks around campus.

All was going all right at first, finding that the hunters were actually still on campus trying to catch them and pulling pranks coinciding with sabotaging the surveillance on the eight of them. Dawn and Don ended up orchestrating all of this, giving one another code names so that “The Dons” wasn’t kept. Not that it worked, but they tried.

Dawn was taken out of commission early on by some of the hunters, removing her charm and unleashing her, leaving her unapproachable and unavailable for consultation. Angry at the attack on Dawn, they went looking for them to find that they were ready for them. They managed to escape, taking Di to a small place pointed out by Ezra for treatment. Tori went back for Dawn, making a new charm for her and dragging her out of it.

Needing a way out, Gabriel stepped up and found them an escape and a place to hide out for a little while until everyone had recovered. This escape was an abandoned house that they live in for a while, doing house-y type things while some of them late at night located places with the hunters and attacked, taking out weapon stores and surveillance and such.

And now’s where I get cryptic because it’s climax material, but I’m adding it because I want a plot in full to go back to.

They find the big central HQ and they go and attack it, thinking if they take it out the whole thing will collapse. So they go and they fight and someone dies (OMG! Who woulda thought I’d kill off a character?!) and then they go back home and Dawn tells them that they didn’t take out central and no one believes her until they’re attacked on the way back. So Dawn’s not dead. She sees the future, she can avoid death for a good while, neh?

They return to school, walk in on their own funeral and decide to split up, since it’s best for all of them. They’ve become the notorious 8 or 7 and everything is ended with all of them going off on new lives.

And that’s all. 2 more days. 2 MORE DAYS!

OMG Characters!

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Okay, so Nano is just around the corner. And though I’ve said nothing about what my story is about, I’m going into my character spiel because some of them are really well developed and some have no development at all and I just need to go through them all. Worked well for me last year. Might as well give it a shot this time around.

Donovan “Don” Mitchell
Don
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Powers: Summons a spear, has increased agility, strength and stamina
History:
Don grew up the only child in a small family. His parents had wanted a second, so treated him like the experimental child, placing rules and regulations on him to keep him out of trouble and generally trying to keep him a good responsible child. Unfortunate that he started bending the rules around that and found loopholes that helped loosen his parents up a little and made them let up on the overabundant restrictions. Especially after he managed to break into the house when he forgot his key because of their last effort to get him into the house on time: by locking the house and not letting him in.

He didn’t mention to his parents what had happened that night to make him late, not believing it himself just yet. He had been walking home when a group of older teens surrounded him. Besides wanting to hurt him, he didn’t really know what they wanted. Outnumbered, he wasn’t sure what to do, but decided to at least try to put up a fight. When they started beating on him, he lashed out and found that he was suddenly holding a spear that had come out of nowhere. He used it, beating them off with the flat of the blade end of it and pushed them back and off, running out in the confusion.

The spear disappeared once he was out of danger, his heart pounding a little less and he was in the gardens behind his house, looking himself over and trying to figure out how hurt he was and how he was going to explain to his parents. Strangely, he wasn’t hurt nearly as bad as he thought he should have been, though he was locked out. His window, however, was still open and he had questions left to ask about earlier.

Rather than deny the existence of the spear, he tried to summon it again. For an hour. When it didn’t appear, he started trying to climb the side of the house up the grate. He got quite high, but when he reached for the window, he fell. He flailed, needing something to break his fall and keep him from falling on his head, the spear was there again in his hand, embedding into the ground. He was never quite sure how he managed to land on his feet, but he was happy for the spear. Once he caught his breath, it was time to try something stupid.

With a running jump, he vaulted himself into his window, using the spear as leverage. It worked and the spear, upon looking back outside, had vanished again. Confused though he was, he decided to just sleep on it.

From high school, he became a very laid back student, maintaining a C+ – B average throughout and getting into sports. He was not popular, though still maintained many friends and a couple girlfriends here and there. It was one of his girlfriend’s brothers that introduced him to the wide world of computer programming behind gaming and he had discovered a passion and direction outside of sports, which were clearly not about to give him any free rides into any good schools.

In his final two years, he took up more math and computer science classes and did quite well. Grades improving in the last two years, especially with having dropped quite a few of the sports teams he was on (Mostly as a second stringer anyway, so he didn’t particularly mind) he managed to get his grades just high enough to get into a school with a decent technology program.

The spear appeared again several more times afterwards and, though he never quite got used to making it come when he wanted, he was getting the hang of using it when it did show up.

Notes:His control is minimal, and he kind of takes things as they come rather than worry about things that might happen eventually.

He also has a romantic interest. I can’t remember her name, but they’ve been going out for about 6 months as of the start of the story.

Dawn Ngera
Dawn
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Powers: Can see the future, needs an inhibitor so she doesn’t get lost in time and remains mentally in the present
History:
Dawn doesn’t discuss her past, because her past is her own business and she has no need to live there any longer than she has to. Needless to say, it wasn’t a hell of a lot of fun. Instead, she likes to focus on other people’s past, and what they had shared instead.

While none of them will ever recount the tale honestly, Dawn had been living on the streets when Di and Ezra Thrice came by. They had simply walked past and she had stopped them, telling them of things that would soon be causing them all problems. There were people that were after all of them. Well, her specifically, but they would soon be coming after everyone and they would all need to be warned. Not warned. They would need to be recruited. Knowing how the twins would react to all this, she made it sound more like a challenge. The pair of them were clearly bored and if they helped her, she would get them good stable living arrangements, entertainment, lots of people and they would never have to settle down. They would be on the move soon enough.

She gained their trust slowly, but surely enough they grew to trust her and followed her into conning a good number of people into fabricating educational histories for all of them. She now appeared to have several years at a community college and was transferring into university. The twins were fresh out of high school. The plan was set, the pieces were in motion, now all that was needed was the other side to show up and the games could begin.

Notes: I love Dawnie. She’s fun. And she’s wearing a black wig and brown contacts to hide white hair and silver eyes.

Torana “Tori” Celeb
torana.gif
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female
Powers: Creates charmed items with magic in them. And she appears to randomly turn into an elf.
History:
Torana, Tori as she’s more commonly known, doesn’t particularly like to talk about her past, though people on the campus know her. She has been attending the school for many years now, dabbling in just about everything and very good at what she tries. She has enough experience now to hold a double, perhaps even a triple major if she would ever declare one, but she never does, instead taking odd jobs on campus and cutting down on her number of classes.

Most of her research, little known to the rest of the campus, leans largely toward the classification of all the people who have magic in this dimension and trying to understand how that works in the context of alternate dimensions. No one, however, questions her on what her real motives at the school are since she’s been there for so long. Instead, she goes out and enjoys the social life regardless of midterms or finals on campus.

Her magic she keeps largely to herself, knowing that it is generally forbidden among the people. She doesn’t use it at all, though, except for her own purposes. In this way, she has never been caught or suspected, though some are starting to find it a little odd that despite how long she seems to have been studying there, she still doesn’t look over 20.

Notes: Her secrets won’t be revealed in this book. Also, fashion misfit. Which makes her fun.

Jin Chen
jin.gif
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Powers: Controls rocks and minerals.
History:
His parents were strict-ish growing up. Both of them Chinese-Canadians, they believed that Jin should grow up with more freedom than they had, but not by much. He had always been pushed very hard to get straight As, learn both Cantonese and Mandarin and become a doctor. That was what his parents had wanted for him and therefore his line of work had long ago been chosen for him.

In school, however, he had discovered a liking for geology of all things. And cooking. His parents did their best to appear supportive of it, though it took them a very long while to realize that he was gravitating away from being a doctor and wanting to branch out into something else. Doctor wasn’t really what he wanted to do, but he would try anyway to make them happy. And his parents slowly stopped pressuring him to become a doctor, deciding instead that he could do what he wanted as long as it required a good education and was guaranteed to pay very well. Post secondary allowed him to branch out into a lot of strange subjects and he’s dabbling.

He did not discover his powers until first year. He was hanging out outside, joking around with Don about the Philosophy class they had just gotten out of. Smething about how in an alternate universe, they would all have powers. Jin joked about how he could just wave his hand and girls would fall for him. In doing this, he waved his hand and the ground developed a lump in it, a girl tripping over it as she walked. While Don and he laughed, Jin knew he had done something and started trying it on his own time, gradually realizing he could manipulate the earth, sand, salt and other earth, rocks and minerals.

Notes: I have to fix him. Lots.

Ciara “Cici” Foley
ciara.gif
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Powers: Controls silvery dust
History:
Ciara was raised largely by her mother as her father left when she was young, unable to deal with her grandparents. Her family had a long standing agreement with another family, the Foleys, to protect them while they got their hands dirty, both families in a very long standing business of information. Selling and using it was their speciality. Ciara’s family provided the muscle. Therefore, when Ciara manifested her abilities at a very young age, she was immediately sent to her grandparents for training.

She couldn’t remember that summer at all. It was like it hadn’t even happened. All she knew was that she had been indited into the family business and, while she wasn’t ready to work yet nor did she understand what it was they did, she was useful now. Her mother, however, didn’t like it and wanted to find a way out of the family.

Over the next year, her mother married a man from the Foley family and she got an older brother, Gabriel. He seemed to remember her better than she remembered him, saying that they had met last summer at their grandparents, then taking it all back and instead trying to act more like a brother to her. She didn’t really understand it, though grew used to him though he seemed strangely distant much of the time. Like he knew something he shouldn’t. Still, she was young and didn’t understand what was happening.

The pair of them were sent off to another completely forgotten summer at their grandparents and then soon after that Ciara stopped seeing them all together. They all moved clear across the country, well away from them and hopefully away from their eyes. Ciara started learning to develop her powers on her own at this time, discovering that the dust listened to her and could tell her things that it heard as well. She took up eaves dropping and started to learn things about how her parents were trying to get out of the family and the family business but it was going to be nearly impossible because they had just robbed them of an entire generation of power.

Ciara had no idea what it meant and decided instead to focus on her own exploits. Like studying. High school pressures were starting to wane on her and her brother was off to University soon, so he would not be around much longer to ask things of. He had started opening up a little more, but he still didn’t seem to have too many answers, not at all interested in what his grandparents were up to or why they had been moving.

When school for her rolled around, she was put directly into the English program due to her grades in high school. Since then, she’s been content to keep to herself, though always seems to know a hell of a lot more than she should.

Notes: She’s the one who has written this book in continuity. That’s why it misses all the stuff that happens in Wipe. Baha.

Gabriel “Gabe” Foley
gabrial.gif
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Powers: Teleports using mirrors.
History:
His mother died in child birth, which left him being raised by his father alone. His dad, while caring, was still rather cold and distant. Like he didn’t want to get too close. Still, Gabriel did his best to make him happy, studying hard so that his father would be proud of him and trying to do well in everything he did because when he did well, his father seemed to become warmer toward him.

One night, tired, he had gotten up from his bed to go visit his father. Forgetting to open his door, he walked into it or, more precisely, into the mirror and walked out the other side in his father’s bedroom. His father, surprised though not entirely shocked, said nothing about it and treated it as if it was a normal incident that they were not to talk about outside this house.

That summer he was sent to his grandparent’s house, though he could tell his father did not want him to go. There he was introduced to the family business. They dealt in information and he would too, especially since he was someone with abilities. Only one was born per generation in the entire family and he would be brought into the business early. And so he began learning his abilities and how to use them well. So important his grandparents thought they were that they arranged for him to have tiny mirrors surgically implanted behind his ears, though he was too young for that yet.

When he came home, he shared everything with his father, including the fact that he understood this was all to be kept a secret. He returned the next year, and a few years after, starting to wonder as he grew older just what it was they were training him to do. He knew, but he didn’t really understand it. And then he saw Ciara, a little girl they were training intensely for combat regardless of her health and ability. When he asked and protested this, they explained that this was the role of her family. She was being trained to protect him at a word and she was going to be their gift to him.

From there on, he only pretended to enjoy himself and absorb everything, but he was a little disgusted at what was going on. He told his father all this when he got back and he assured Gabriel that everything was going to be all right if they could get a few things settled.

His father married Ciara’s mother later that year. He did his best to keep an eye out for her, but wasn’t sure what to do. She couldn’t remember anything that had happened over the summer at all. He felt awkward around her, knowing that she was being given to him this next summer somehow. That summer, he found out what they had meant. She was trained as a sleeper and they gave him the password to make her switch between normal and agent.

When they moved, he felt better, though still awkward around his sister. The family as a whole decided to not mention any of it to Ciara and Gabriel did his best to do that, hiding his abilities from her as well. Still, he was happier when he went away to school. Protective of her as he had become, he didn’t really know what to do around her anymore. He tried, but that knowledge was still haunting him.

Notes: I send him to Australia. In every iteration. His hair looks dorky, I really should have found something better.

Diamond “Di” Malaya Thrice
di.gif
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Powers: Illusionist
History:
Twin sister to Ezra, she is younger by a few minutes but more than makes up for it in her own way. The pair of them were abandoned by their mother at a very young age, left at home on their own with her never returning. Their mother’s influence had left both of them distrustful of adults and they made their way into the streets to fend for themselves.

They knew they had powers but never knew that such a thing was unusual. Di became very good at making illusions of herself, as well as making herself invisible so that she could take food from stands and run away with it for herself and her brother. Gradually they joined a group of other homeless children and she became one of their two best thieves, stealing enough food for everyone to eat as well as hiding them when bad people came by.

When her brother and herself were offered a better home away from all this, they accepted. Their powers had become known and certain people could find need for their kind of children. Di wondered what it was like to be a princess in a house, so they accepted. Once there, they were taught many things, like how to read, shoot a gun, math, use weapons and generally keep people in line. In exchange, they got to play as much as they wanted and watch TV and eat regularly. It was fun.

Then the work came. Once they were ready, they were brought along as backup to collect protection money and introduced to the people. They were quick to learn the ropes of intimidation and soon were insisting that they could do it on their own without people watching them. They had done everything else on their own up to this point, after all. As a joke, they were permitted to go in on their own once, and in the one act they were deemed the terror twins.

The man in the shop recounted seeing demons and ghosts of the past, running screaming from the shop to their driver pleading with him that he would get the money and do anything they wanted from now on. Anything. When asked what they did, the twins merely said that they were having fun and they didn’t know what they did that was so great. They had barely even gotten to the fun part yet.

It was on their thirteenth birthday, or rather their proclaimed one, that they decided to make a break for it, not at all appreciating that they were now being referred to as the “Terror Twins” and wanting to kill anyone who called them that in an affectionate manner. And so, on their thirteenth birthday, they slaughtered everyone at the party and vanished.

Several years later, Dawn pulled them aside and promised them some excitement from their rather dull current existence. As well as the promise of other people with powers. They were starting to learn not to kill the people who made them mad so they figured they could mingle with the smart kids. Maybe. Might as well give it a shot, anyway.

Notes: No one will know when you vanish and Wipe steps in. No one. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Malachite Ezra Thrice
ezra.gif
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Powers: Hypnotic voice
History:
When the pair of them started stealing things, Ezra shone in a different manner than his sister. He discovered that adults would do what he said, so he started convincing people to give him money rather than go through the trouble of pickpocketing. He acted largely as a distraction, however, commanding people not to pay attention to the theft as it was happening and everyone obeying him.

He and his sister were the best team and he thought that perhaps they should make something more of themselves. That was when they got the better offer. They both agreed, Ezra because he was curious about what a house was like.

You know what, see Di’s history. They’re pretty much the same, really.

Notes: Anyone who’s been paying attention knows what happens to him already.

Aaand to be continued as I need to keep filling this thing out. Seriously, this is the core cast. All protagonists. I still gotta make proper antagonists before Thursday.

EDIT: And done. More or less.

Notes for Later

Monday, January 8th, 2007

Once upon a time I wrote a story called Darkling, a novella length fic that was on a computer that then crashed. I plan on rewriting it and getting a notebook for it and rebranding it to its new name. While it’s probably a bad idea to put it on the Internet, here be the notes for Darkling, which is due to become Sometimes in Fog.

  • World where some people have powers but most do not. Those who do can easily find one another because those with the ability set up mental networks to catch those with other powers and bring them all together to breif one another on what’s happening and who they can tell stuff to and who they can’t.
  • There are a set number of available abilities that people can have. Telepathic (human/animal), telekenetic, elemental, seer. When they start to discover they can do something, they either specialize in one of the afore mentioned or they stretch themselves so thin that their powers wear out prematurely.
  • There other powers people can have that are related to control of people and spirits, but these are generally considered darker abilities and contribute to certain aspects of chaos that most would rather avoid completely.
  • Rinnai, the main character, is oddly mature for sixteen, though fully still just a teenager and more than ready to angst over just about anything that comes her way. She’s also insanely powerful, able to wield all of the separate abilities and the chosen one.
  • The chosen one comes around whenever the world is about to go to shit. When things get really bad, they are sacrificed so that the world normalizes again.
  • Rinnai is the daughter of an alchoholic mother who has no idea who Rinnai’s father is and no intention of finding out. She seems to care about her daughter more in passing than anything else, preferring to just live her own life and let her daughter do the same now that she’s old enough.
  • Her best friend, Mackenzie, works in the same video store as her, though Mackenzie’s parents run the place. She portrays herself as a Wiccan more because she likes the witch style and personal than because of the religion, but she is fine with doing a little practise of it at her leisure.
  • Emory is Rinnai’s partner when they have to go out and police the guys who are trying to cause chaos, havoc and generally expose the people with powers to the rest of the world. I can’t remember offhand what Emory can do, though it was non-offensive and I think he was a seer. He’s in his mid to late twenties and acts as a bit of an older brother figure to Rinnai, though depends on her for these little missions.
  • The story starts off with one of said missions, Emory calling Rinnai in for back up and catching someone they know and whose name I’ve forgotten digging up bodies in a grave yard. They dispose of him quickly, but he mentions that the time is coming for things to change
  • There is mention in the news of strange people with strange abilities seeming to pop up, though this is mostly downplayed and kept to the conspiracy theorists with little credibility. Still, people are beginning to stir because these reports are becoming more pervasive and are making their way into regular conversation.
  • The other side of thinking, the people who want to make them public and practicing the controlling arts and such are beginning to act more aggessively and oddly, more forceful.
  • Rinnai decides eventually to cut her boyfriend loose, thinking their relationship only casual anyway and not linking how anti “freak” he is in light of how common the special powers people are becoming now in regular news.
  • Rinnai talks to her cat, Magdelena aka Lena, a lot and her cat talks back with some good advice from an animal perspective, though essentially stays out of the way of her work
  • Meeting happens at the coffee shop announcing that they need to find the chosen one person because if the sacrifice doesn’t happen soon, some horrible stuff will happen. Rinnai tries not to panic over the fact that her allies are looking to kill her. It als becomes apparent that her enemies also want her dead before the sacrifice ceremony so that they can stop it from happening and essentially win at last.
  • A large event happens elsewhere, making national news and being played over and over of a scene where a man burst open a water pipe and used it and a fire hydrant to stop a living wall of flame from hitting an oil tanker. Attention focused on the water man as the enemy, saying he had been put into custody for questioning, ect. ect.
  • Warning put out that the dark side is trying to draw the light out into public battles and they all need to be on high alert.
  • A ghost comes after Lira in her home, oddly, and tries to take her out. With the aid of her cat’s knowledge of how they banish ghosts in the animal kingdom, she managed to get rid of it but not before her mother returns home in a drunken stupor.
  • She shows up late at Emory’s apartment looking for a place to crash, beaten and in no mood to talk about it. She refuses to go home at first, Emory dealing with her for a while before she finally goes home to confront her mother, who won’t look at her anymore.
  • Ghosts hit the school cafeteria. They start a food fight, a few people retaliating while most duck for cover. When the doors are discovered locked, panic ensues amidst the chaos and Rinnai manages to discretely take out the causing ghosts despite Mackenzie being with her the entire time.
  • Mackenzie is strangely absent from work and she finds out that the girl is in the hospital. Rinnai goes to her, not wanting to go home anyway, and discovers that she was severely beaten by a group of anti-freak people who were trying to preemptively get rid of all of them. She is barely conscious and not focusing as Rinnai talks to her, Rinnai vowing to take her revenge. Mackenzie says something cryptic like a final goodbye and to do something else.
  • She goes after her ex-boyfriend who was a part of the attack on her friend, finding him drunk at a friend’s apartment and barely coherent. With the mindset to beat the living shit out of him, she gets surprised and knocked out, wakes up and ends up escaping out the window.
  • Attempting to get the hell home, feeling dizzy from the smacks to the head and someone comes up behind her with a white van and chloroform. KIDNAPPED! OH NOES!
  • Same guy from before wakes her up and roughly demands that she tell him everything she knows about the location of the chosen one, since everyone is looking for “him” (because everyone thinks it’s a guy) and they had a leak that someone around there knew who it was. They know he hasn’t died yet, so it’s only a matter of time before they corner the person and they want the person first.
  • She is in a warehouse full of zombies and reacting negatively to the chloroform, developing a high fever and barely consious when help finally arrives. She managed to get herself part of the way out, though does not unstrap herself from the chair and ends up collapsing at the door, leaving someone else to take her out of there.
  • She wakes up in the hospital with Emory looking over her, telling her that it was all right and the rest of htem were going to take care of things while she got some rest, but it was not going to be long before they butt heads. He tells her it’s coming only a few days from now and they were getting ready and she was free to not be there if she was not up to it.
  • Rinnai leaves the hospital shortly after and goes to wander around the forest late at night to a nice spot on the bridge to stare at the water. Someone else is there, looking up at the sky and pays no heed until it gets chilly and he gives her his coat without saying a word, then smiles at her and walks away. Rinnai knows what she’s going to try and do, and what she will eventually have to do.
  • Skip to school, she is wearing the jacket again and has to go to detention. Sighing, she uses her powers and breaks the hell out, going through a window and laughing as she leaves. She hesitates, but cannot head back home again remembering the painful morning where her mother wouldn’t look at her or speak to her and simply goes to the fight, ridiculously staged on a street and just beginning.
  • Zombies, ghosts and powers fight. She uses only telekinesis for a while, then decides to end it completely by performing something that came to her that night and Mackenzie’s words echoing in her head again, and she puts an end to the whole goddamn thing, as well as putting a stop to all the control based magic things.
  • Epilogue in the form of Rinnai’s funeral circa the agic people. They found a spot in the forest with a statue of her that was not there before, and here they read the words she left behind for everyone read by Mackenzie, who was one of them all along but a part of a different group in the same town/city.

THE END

Now, lets see if I ever actually get around to writing it again. It’s a total Mary Sue, but it’s a fun one.
