Daytripper #2
I am thoroughly confused and intrigued at the same time. I started reading it and thought he was the same guy from the first issue having a flashback into some part of his life and a trip he took with his friend. Then he died at the end and I thought maybe it was someone who looked like him. And then I realized it was about the time he died when he was 21 as opposed to when he died at 32. And now, I don’t know what’s going on.

Echo #18
I don’t know why, but it feels like ages since the alst issue. And it’s still just as fun, but now with the pace picking up, I’m hoping we get more than one or two events an issue.

The great and magical jailbreak. I loved it. I really did. All of the pieces are falling into place, though the Harry Potter parallels are getting a little strong now that we have both a know-it-all brunette and a redhead with a smart mouth and comic relief value. Now I need to decide whether I want to continue this in issues or trades, but I think trades for this one might be best. I want to reread the story and my issues don’t hold up well on transit.

Weekly World News #1
Ed Anger is amazing. He’s the crazy folk you see yelling at everything he doesn’t like for being un-American and angry because now aliens, intelligent apes and Bat Boy (Who doesn’t seem to be able to close his mouth for some reason) are even in the country. Although once again, my favourite is the alien. All level headed and a lovely foil, he’s fun.

And the minute for the week:

Comic Run 12-11-09

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, eh? Well, time to get right back into it.

Daytripper #1
Um. I don’t really know how to digest this one. With a title like “Daytripper” and all of this build up about how he’s a writer and references to all sorts of things all over the place and whatnot, that ending has me incredibly confused. The build up was, I thought, to something vaguely supernatural starting to happen. Was that a one shot?

Echo #17
You know, for an issue that was essentially an information dump it wasn’t that bad. I understand none of the science explained save for the bits that were teh “action movie version” but I now know the history of Annie. The whole thing is just guys sitting around and talking and, while I’m sure it was important, I’m a little anxious for the story and action to start picking up again.

God Complex #1
It was a good bit of fun first issue to the series, which is good considering how much of it I’d seen from Oeming pimping it. The two page spreads with dark boarders kept throwing me off and I wasn’t sure where my eyes were supposed to go from panel to panel as the whole bloody thing is kind of dark and it’s hard to tell, but the story of a modern day pantheon of Greek gods is always fun and one who quits to the ire of everyone else just makes it better.

Although, I do have to note one rather annoying thing. Whoever was doing the lettering wasn’t paying attention. Typos. Obvious typos and an error with setting the characters in a line of dialogue. These errors should not happen, people.

Unwritten #8
It took me entirely too long to figure out where in the series this was taking place and if I’d grabbed an old issue. It’s a nice look into the other side and other people involved in the Tom in jail arc, but while I did enjoy it, I’m not sure it was worthwhile if the kids or the warden just disappear in the next arc. They all really do seem like fleeting characters in the overall scheme of things, though the kids joining the main arc might make for some interesting developments. Especially is Tom isn’t so good with kids.

And now, comic reviews! Yeah, like anyone ever thought I’d give these up. Well, let’s get to it, neh?

Echo #15
Another lovely issue, this time with ivy coming back out of the hope that Julie can help her daughter. From foe to friend in one conversation and an act. It’s pretty nicely played, though I can’t help but think they’re a few pages short. Somehow, the issue just seems to run short.

Runaways #14
I… um… what? Was that Gert? I miss enjoying this series and I’m really liking the new writer on teh series, though I’m not in love with the art. It does, however, feel a lop more like the old BKV days and I think I might even forgive them for bringing back Gert, though I’m really hoping it’s not her. It means more to the series if she stays dead.

Spiderman: Clone Saga #1
I skimmed it. I’ll read it proper later, but there’s just so much text and exposition crammed onto the pages that I really just glazed over it. Plus Mary Jane’s there and I just don’t know what the timeline is or what’s going on with it, so I’m going to leave it for the moment. Maybe later this week I’ll read it and make sense of it.

Teen Titans #75
Ever since I found out Static joined the Titans, I’ve been debating whether or not to pick up Titans again. Its not bad, but I missed a lot. What happened to Eddie? I guess Robin’s off being one of the Batman encarnates in another book and can’t keep going as leader and they left it to Cassie, who seems to have a breakdown over everything. We’ll see how it goes.
