Transmundane

Nothing but a daydream

Current Stage: Plotting

Milestones: 1 / 12 (8%)

Execution:

A bastardized visual novel. It would, instead of letting the user choose which path to follow, let people choose which character to follow. Also, I'd like to have it all animated by different animators and have live action sequences for portions of the story that take place in reality as well.

Of course, this is ideally. Otherwise, it may become a novel or a series of light novels. Animation might still work, even.

Milestones:

  1. Research the subconscious and dream theory
  2. Plot main three character story lines
  3. Write three story lines until the end of the first arc
  4. Edit
  5. Split into sections
  6. Plot secondary story lines
  7. Write secondary story lines
  8. Edit
  9. Find animators
  10. Sample art
  11. Test animation
  12. Find voices/Sound designer

Summary:

Brooke has always thought her dreams felt a little too real. When a group of people come to visit her in her dreams repeatedly, she finally realizes that her subconscious is a little different and she starts to discover the realms of the collective subconscious and the people who dwell there.

Here, she has the power to enter different people's subconscious and affect them, as do the others who walk among them, but the people are split into two factions: Those who think they should change the subconscious of people to help them and those who believe it's best that people work out their own problems.

Both factions want Brooke to join them and Brooke doesn't know what she's going to do. Luckily, she can leave whenever she wants.

Characters:

Brooke - Main character.
Sage - The first person Brooke talks to who shows her around.
Antagonist - Guy from the other faction that wants to show her the other side.

Universe:

It's the collective subconscious. Lots of abstract symbolism everywhere. More details when I actually do the damn research.

And real life consists of school, home and that's really about it.

Inspiration:

Embarrassing as it is, the idea comes from a dream I had once. The scene that this whole story comes from, however, is quite a ways off from ever coming to fruition. Sixth book in the series away.

Notes:

I need books on Jungian theory. And a couple for dummies psych books.
