Dreamscape
Trying to wake up
Current Stage: Hiatus
Milestones: 2 / 5 (40%)
Execution:
I can't decide what to do with this one just yet. I have a novel written, but I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet. Still weighing the options.
I could keep the novel and just edit it flat out so I can weed out elements and turn it into a series. It would be a trilogy or longer if I did it this way and a lot of fun to do it this way.
Or I could do the other route, turn the book into an animated series and write a prequel as a book to have as a companion to the series.

Summary:
A strange epidemic hit North America, two thirds of the population falling into a coma. They are all sharing the same dream and looking for a way out of it before the dark shadows come to claim them.
Dust has been a pain in the council's side for a while now since she decided she wanted to do things her own way. When Light comes back from having vanished several months ago, he tells them he's found out how to wake up and chooses Dust to help wake them all up.

Characters:
Dust Our lead character and one of the first people to enter Dreamscape and become lucid. Though she is a member of the council, they are not on good terms due to her rouge actions and attitude.
Her lucidity is to control small silver particles of dust that appear whenever she needs them in whatever quantity she needs them in.
LightYoung, optimistic and slowly becomes more realistic over the course of the series, he was also among the first to arrive and the very first to come back after being awake.
He can create light, something that was utterly useless until they realized the light could purge a Shade from someone. Because of this, he has been kept within the safety of Sanctuary for the most part so that no harm could befall him.
RumourA man with a bit of a problem with Dust. When he was awake, he had been hitting on her in a club when she fell asleep and he took that as an insult. When he met up with her again in Dreamscape, he had yet to forgive her and, seeing as she saw no reason to apologize, he's taken to detesting the stuck up bitch.
He knows every rumour floating around a given area down to every detail.
ThirteenA hired hand, fully capable of whatever needs to be done, but he does not speak. Why this is isn't entirely clear, but no one seems to mind as he's from the less kind parts of the city and works as a hired hand to perform whatever dirty deed needs to be finished that night.
Universe:
It's a shared dream. The scenery has settled into separate places now based on who is there and what they want their setting to be, but as it's a shared universe, there's a lot of compromise and the world laws changing from place to place.
The people within the dream, though, do have lucidity once they get used to the place, though what that is changes based on where they are. In the city and most places, it means a single ability to use as they will. In the suburbs, they don't get even this. In the Fantasy lands, though, they get powers based on what their setting is and what they play as part of the game.

Inspiration:
I was looking up lucid dreaming one day and wondered how shared dreaming and lucid dreaming might go together. And then the shades came into the idea and Dust wanted a story all to herself, so they all got put together.
Notes:
I know what I'm going to do with it now! It will be rewritten so that it exists as a stand alone novel and I will have lots of time to work on it. Wipe first, however Wipe gets done, then I'll put this book out.
