I have no idea how the vampire fits in, being an undead creature as it is and all.

Having read the comic, I get the impression that the Five Ghosts aren't ghosts as in "spirits of living people" but ghosts as in "embodiments of literary archetypes." And even if they weren't, vampires can be killed, and whether or not a vampire has a soul and/or can leave ghosts depends heavily on which version of the mythos you're talking about.

It never made sense to me that DC and Marvel change writers for their series as often as they do. Especially when the comic itself seems to be really popular, and is a smaller monthly title that kind of needs the solid hand of a consistent writer.

I get why DC and Marvel do this for their bigger characters though, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and the X-man franchise, all have multiple monthly titles, and that kind of workload would probably overwhelm any sane person. Though I do think that when they do the constant event crossover comics that they seem to do that they should choose one writer to be the lead on that storyline and put in some extra work to keep the story consistent over the various titles.

The moment Runaways switched to Whedon it pretty much went to pot, same goes for when they switched Sean McKeever off of Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. It seems as though DC and Marvel both don't understand the concept of consistency in writing as being a good thing, least if DC's treatment of Birds of Prey is any indication...which is sorta mystifying considering the success of Bill Willingham's Fables series with DC, (can't think of a similar decent parallel in Marvel's universe)
