At work. So completely not supposed to be posting right now. Ah well.
Her father didn’t want her joining the police, both because he was very traditional and didn’t believe that women should be on the police force and because the beat was entirely too dangerous for his darling daughter. And we need one cannon chauvanist pig. Mulan, ever wanting to make her parents proud, agreed, though worried for him and did still want to help put criminals in their place.
To keep in shape, she “went to the gym” and took self defence, karate and any martial art that would take her, becoming quite good at it over her high school years. She’d ask on ocassion about joining the police again, but her father still would not permit it, instead telling her to focus on her studies.
When her fatehr didn’t come home one night, shot from an altercation and in the hospital, Mulan knew she had to do something to make the streets a little safer. She started shadowing her father on his patrol from the rooftops, though knew he would not accept her help or the help of a woman and disguised herself as a man. She knew it would be safer this way, as well, as young women were often targets.
From the shadows, she started to clean up the streets as best she could, leaving the criminals in nice packages for her father, who would come home some nights and mornings and talk about the man helping from behind the scenes, never realizing it was his daughter.
She continued on like this, working from the shadows, though gradually developed her own enemies and allies. No one ever saw her without her full suit on, showing no signs of skin and keeping her identity perfectly hidden. She became a hero and, though a few tried, none could figure out who she was.
She eventually allied herself with an inventor who would fix her up with various gadgets and weaponry. Many people have come to the conclusion that he is the mysterious stranger and Mulan, though jealous, has condoned it in order to keep her own identity private. This was short lived as soon after, he was kidnapped and she had to save him.
And for some reason I want to add that they are falling in love with each other but he’s gay and doesn’t know she’s a girl while she knows he’s gay and knows it wouldn’t work out. Don’t know why.
